Students deserve an education that is free from bullying and harassment, and in many districts parents, teachers, principals, community members and students are working together to create a safe and welcoming environment for all children. Bullying can impede learning and ruin lives. As Education Secretary Arne Duncan has said, “bullying is doubly dangerous because if left unattended it can rapidly escalate into even more serious violence and abuse.” Close to nine in ten Americans believe that bullying is a “serious problem,” and many communities are directly challenging harassment and violence in schools.
However, many Religious Right activists want to derail efforts to combat bullying. An increasing number of conservative leaders and organizations have fiercely opposed anti-bullying programs developed by schools and education groups for the sole reason that such programs identify and attempt to combat the widespread bullying of LGBT youth.
Rather than recognize and address the problem of bullying against students who are gay or perceived to be gay, Religious Right groups want schools to embrace a policy of inaction. Many resort to repeating discredited lies about sexual orientation and vilifying the LGBT community and its allies to back up their opposition to anti-bullying programs that mention anti-gay bullying. Concerned students, families, teachers, education professionals, and public officials should not be fooled by the far-right’s attempt to smear anti-bullying programs, and should instead ensure that schools address bullying with a direct, honest and comprehensive approach.

How incredibly out of touch with reality you are. It’s not that we want schools to be dangerous for gay kids, it’s that we don’t want gay kids at all – period. Homosexuality is a vice; it’s an addiction and perversion. Who the hell want s their kids to be like that? No one. Why should we change the rules that %95 of the normal people agree with, to suit the %5 who happen to be perverts? Get a clue.

As for 95% of the “normal” people should be those who decide what is “wrong” only indicates that, if you are an American, you must hate what we stand for. We are a ‘Democratic Republic’ meaning, we elect who we want to represent us and that their is no “mob rule” where any minority is treated different or not as important as the “majority”. If you don’t like this, the only other way to run a country is through dictatorship, where one way is the only way, those who step outside this ideology, would need to be crushed. Hitler, most famous for this belief, most resembles what you indicate you desire. Have fun and good luck with that.

You complete that sentence with, “if you are an American, you must hate what we stand for. ”
Because of what?
America stands for a homosexual lifestyle? You are twisted.
What other points did you make here? Oh yes, you present me with a false dilemma. Either we have to rewrite the laws to suit the perverts, or we live in a dictatorship. How about…we keep things as they are?
There is no dilemma here. It’s very simple actually. No need to be intellectual about this. Look, the vast majority of people in this country think that anything gay is disgusting. Therefore the laws reflect how the vast majority feels. Perverts don’t count as a ‘minority’ unless you are a pervert yourself. Homosexuality is not the norm at all. That is why it falls under the definition of deviant behavior. People who enjoy deviant behavior are perverts. That means that their minds are perverted.
Even until the 1970′s homosexuality was considered a mental illness. However, political correctness seeped its way even into science and it’s been given a much more liberal slant.

Deviant behavior is not a term that belongs to conservative christians. It’s a word: deviant. It has a definition. You are not going to undermine the meaning of the word deviant no matter how hard you try – even if you claim that conservative christians somehow own that word.
You are a very unhappy homosexual. Look at what you said to me, “As for hoping I get all the help I need….lol, that will only come when all people like you are dead.”
Well I’m shocked! You don’t enjoy the “diversity” I add to your life? Do you always wish death on those who have a different viewpoint than you? And you accuse *me* of being ‘dictatorial’ because I don’t want laws to be rewritten to suit perverts.
You are a hypocrite. In a short conversation of three posts, you’ve managed to show that you are full of hate (wishing death on me), rigid (you hate when others disagree), arrogant and a mental-case pervert.

I’m not hateful, I am not the one using religion to oppress people, and kill people. the truth is, the world would be better off if conservative Christians and conservatives from all religious backgrounds were dead. that’s just a fact. i don’t make up history. Your words are so comical talking about being shocked, you have got to be a fake or a bot of some sort, what you say it too lame to actually be coming from a person who believes what they type. As for burning down churches, not my style. I have no problem with them, they should just stop getting my tax dollars, the USA is not supposed to have a royal class, Thomas Jefferson made sure the Puritans understood and stopped making Quakers fund their churches, its not fair to make everyone else fund one groups beliefs and force them on others. As for being unhappy…i am happier than i ever could believe, i could never have imagined that my life could be so happy, fortunate, and healthy. i hope that on all people, except those that act like Hitler and other dictators who use religion to back their belief, and want everyone to fit into cookie cutter mindless fools. the difference with me is, i dont want to make everyone like me, and I dont think others should either. and I am not actually stopping anyone, and that cannot be said for conservative Christians….who have come to power NOT because the ‘Sermon On The Mount’. By the way, I told a friend that I was arguing with a totally gay liberal kid online – he was sincerely worried for America’s future when I told him how you thought and that I think lots of liberal gay kids think just like you. He had or is going to have his whole church pray for you. I know the diversity that this brings to your life makes you warm and fuzzy all over. Perfect. You’ve managed to totally marginalize yourself now that you’ve emphasized your extreme and militant point of view. No one will ever take you seriously here from this point on.
You are a case study.
You’ve let homosexuality damage your sense of morals. Now you think it’s a good thing to kill the billions of people who believe in Christianity.
So, taken to it’s extreme, we can easily see that homosexuality is bad for the world. You would happily kill billions of people. I think most homosexuals have similar feelings as you.
Thing is, we all (us normal people) know a few homos here and there. After a while one starts to notice that homos, as a group, share some similar qualities. One quality is that most homos have mental problems. They commit suicide, as a group, at a very high rate for one. Homosexuals die of AIDS more often, as a group, than other groups be they White’s, Blacks, Women and so on.
People understand that one of the reasons someone goes gay is because they are slightly unstable in some way. Look at all those unstable gay priests that raped all those little boys (not girls).
So this is why we need to teach people the truth about homosexuality. We need to teach people that it’s a choice; a lifestyle choice. Broken down into a binary-like analogy, homosexuality is nothing more than a series of decisions one makes over time. That means that it can ultimately be defined as a behavioral problem. After all, it is a form of behavior as our many behaviors in totality make up our lifestyle.
The gay lifestyle is frowned upon for a number of reasons – reasons that do not make direct reference to morality either. We don’t need to go to a moral argument on this one. It’s just long been recognized that gayness is not good for society. It is, more than anything else, a destructive lifestyle.
